2nd to last place: Sorrow's Path with tournament insignia
Special: Qualification for n00bcon9
ALL PARTICIPANTS, except for the winner in standings, will receive a signed Sorrow's Path (aka the worst card in Magic) to inspire a better performance next time!
Tournament structure:
-----------------------
Main tournament will be minimum 5 rounds, more depending on attendance. In case of high turnout we will run a Swiss style tournament, in case of a lower turnout we will be playing a round-robin style tournament.
To determine the official ranking, we will use a point system as described below.
Purpose of the point system is to reward innovation, encourage players to try out the format, and trying to not just play the best deck in the format.
You get points by winning games or by gaining perks depending on your decklist and personae.
Points gained for gameplay:
----------------------------------
Winning a game (not round!): +2 points
Drawing a round / timeout: +1 points
Intentional draw: 0 points
The available perks:
---------------------------
Fun player - not playing The Deck or UR Counterburn: +2 points
Innovator - playing a homebrew or unconventional deck: +2 points
Purist - playing a mono deck that is not black: +2 points
Half Breed - playing one to three P9 only: +3 points
Budget Master - playing completely unpowered: +5 points
Fresh Meat - first time playing 93/94 in Germany: +1 points
Charmer - showing great sportmanship: +2 points
Final decision on what constitutes a "The Deck", "Counterburn" or "homebrew" will be at the TOs discretion, altough we think that we will easily reach a consensus. Charmer is based on a vote by all players after the last round, one vote per player.
In case there is a tie for the most points, a finals match between the contenders is mandatory. If needed, tiebreakers are rounds won, thereafter games won, thereafter games lost. These tiebreakers are used to determine the top2 in a threeway (or higher) tie.
n00bcon qualification
------------------------
The n00bcon invite will be a lottery weighted by points.
Each point will basically be a ticket in the lottery, so the more points you have, the better your chances (thus rewarding good play). Still, there should be a decent shot at winning for everyone, no matter the final standing. All players that are willing to take the trip to Sweden can participate in the lottery.
Format rules:
---------------
The rules for this tournament will be the same as for n00bcon9. They can be found here:
