I need a VPS for low latency. If users are thousands of kilometers away, will physical distance slow down request processing? Should I choose the server location strictly based on my main audience?

Physical distance absolutely impacts latency. Data can only travel so fast, so if your server is thousands of kilometers away from your users, you will definitely notice slower request processing. You should absolutely choose a server location closest to your primary audience to ensure the best performance. If you are looking for excellent, secure server options with great global locations, check out this link. They offer reliable VPS solutions that can help you keep your latency minimal and your site running fast.

Thanks! What if my users are split between the US and Europe? Is there a middle-ground location, or should I just use a CDN?

A CDN is perfect for static files, but for dynamic data, look at Iceland or US East Coast servers to balance the latency for both.
