« Je joue une Gitaxian Probe [elle se résout], puis je joue un Monastery Swiftspear… euh, merde, on peut dire que je l’ai joué avant la Probe ? »



Voilà des demandes bien audacieuses, et pourtant courantes dans les salles de jeux Mtg. On a tous demandé un jour à notre adversaire, le regard mouillé d’excuses, de bien vouloir nous laisser revenir en arrière… par-ce qu’on a joué un peu vite, parce que c’est un tournoi boutique « à la cool », ou parce que notre erreur est bien trop énervante pour être assumée.

Face à ce genre de question, il y généralement deux attitudes :

- Celle du bon Samaritain, qui prétend être là pour l’amour du jeu, et par conséquent, autorise l’adversaire à revenir en arrière ;
- Celle du méchant requin, intransigeant, qui ne vous laissera jamais revenir en arrière, même à 4h du mat’ en Cube ;


Pour ma part, je me place généralement dans la seconde catégorie (méchant requin), et si je fais cela, c’est justement pour l’amour du jeu et par respect pour l'adversaire. Laissez-moi vous expliquer.

Que ce soit en session de test, en tournoi boutique à la cool, ou en top 8 de GP, je pars du principe qu’on est aussi là pour s’entrainer. De mon point de vue, quel que soit le tournoi, je vais donc essayer de faire le même effort de concentration, en essayant de ne jamais tombé dans le « easy-playing » qui consiste à moins me concentrer (= moins me fatiguer) dans les parties avec peu d’enjeu (exple: ne plus compter ses pv, ne pas réfléchir plusieurs tours en avance, lancer des phases d’attaque sans prendre en compte préalablement toutes les possibilités de bloques, etc.). Pourquoi s’infliger tant de concentration dans une session de test sans enjeux ou un tournoi boutiques 6 joueurs ? Parce que notre cerveau est traitre, et les mauvaises habitudes qu’on lui fait prendre (easy-playing), nous empêche de développer des réflexes de jeux et de concentration qui seront bien utiles lors de parties à enjeux. Cette maxime bien connue des sportifs résume assez bien le propos : « ce n’est pas l’entrainement qui rend parfait, c’est l’entrainement parfait qui rend parfait ».

Évidemment, parfois on est juste là pour s’amuser sans se prendre la tête me direz-vous. Mais si vous avez l’once d’une démarche compétitive, dites-vous bien que le easy-playing n’est pas neutre, et équivaux à l’inverse de l’entrainement, soit donc, à quelque chose qui vous donne de très mauvaises habitudes et vous fera régresser à la longue. Et puis après tout, Magic est un jeu de réflexion, si vous n'êtes pas disposer à faire l'effort de réfléchir, évitez d'y jouer. En tout cas, d’un point de vue personnel, mes plus belles et intéressantes parties, sont celles ou mon adversaire et moi étions en pleine concentration, dans un jeu de poker-menteur et d’anticipation, à se renvoyer les beaux play en grindant et en capitalisant la moindre micro erreur de l’autre. Et ce genre de partie ont pour la majorité eu lieu dans des parties sans enjeux… c’est pour moi cela, le beau jeu et le plaisir à Magic, et je crois que pour la grande majorité des joueurs, le plaisir à Magic vient d’un beau combat gagné dans une partie âpre contre un adversaire concentré qui ne lâche rien.

A l’aune de cette réflexion, est-ce qu’autoriser un adversaire à systématiquement réparer ses miss-play (=miss-concentration) c’est l’aider ? Je ne crois pas. Vous l’encourager justement à se dire qu’il peut se passer d'une pleine concentration, étant donné qu’il pourra toujours compter sur votre tolérance. Vous lui donnez l'habitude de penser "à moitié" et faire en premier l'action (pour en voir les résultats), au lieu de d'abord visualiser mentalement l'action, pour en percevoir ses implications et conséquences sur le jeux... Et un jour, en GP, il enchaine les miss-play sans comprendre pourquoi. Il faut bien comprendre qu’on ne peut pas dire « là je joue à la cool, et puis en GP je me concentrerai bien plus ». La concentration, c’est d’abord une habitude et quelque chose qui se travail à chaque partie, et pour lequel il faut prendre le pli. Est-ce que les sprinters s’entrainent en marchant, en se disant, au Jeux Olympiques je ferai l’effort de courir à fond ? Magic est un jeu d'abstraction où les bons joueurs passent plus de temps à imaginer leurs actions et celles de leur adversaire et a en mesurer les conséquences et implications, plutôt qu'à jouer des cartes "dans le présent".

Alors la prochaine fois qu’un adversaire vous semble être un horrible shark qui vous refuse un retour en arrière illégale, pensez à tout ça, et dites-vous qu’il n’est peut-être pas si malveillant, mais simplement qu’il est là pour le beau jeu et la progression…

Enfin, je voudrais quand même apporter une petite nuance à cet article. Il ne s'agit pas d'être intolérant et borné. Certaines situations nécessites d'arrondir les angles. Par exemple, si vous jouez en tournoi boutique contre un débutant, il est évident qu'avoir une démarche pédagogique et tolérante est bienvenue. De même, certaines situations nécessite légalement un retour en arrière, et certains retour en arrière peuvent être tolérables, pour différentes raisons (par exple en test pour continuer une partie intéressante qui sinon se serait terminée sur l'erreur, etc.). Bref, soyez Shark, mais soyez des Shark éclairés et bienveillants.

A propos de la liste et du side, je n'ai pas spécialement de choses que je veux changer:
Mes deux défaites sont plutôt dues au fait de ne pas trouver NO, donc je ne veux pas redescendre en dessous de 4 (et surtout de ne pas trouver glimpse).
J'ai perdu 1 game vs BUG parce que sur deux games il me discard behemoth et que ma 2è target est regal plutôt que béhémoth, mais c'est la première fois que ça m'arrive de perdre parce que Regal arrive en jeu au lieu de behemoth vs de nombreuses situations où j'ai été heureux de pouvoir GSZ/NO sur Regal.

Je sais ce qu'il joue, je garde une main avec symbiot et viridian, j'ai le toss.
La partie dure très longtemps, je sors rapidement viridian shaman/symbiot et le descends à 3, mais ses posts lui donnent le mana de caster spine of ish sah sur le symbiot, puis wurmcoil, puis forgemaster qui va chercher hellkite...
Je perds la 1 en 40 min alors que je pensais l'avoir bien en main, sans piocher aucun de nos 12 rituels préférés mais beaucoup de lands...

Il sort avec revoker sur symbiot et lightning greaves sur revoker pour éviter la même aventure qu'à la 1, puis sortira aussi calice à 1 (Decay), trinisphère (shamane). Je le tuerais à l'aggro grace à des Nettle.

Je preds le toss et tour 1 marais = > seize > Glimpse, tour 2 verdant catacomb, tombeau luxuriant, hymn to tourach. T3 waste mais rien d'autre. Je pioche un glimpse derriere et gagne.

niveau side je crois qu'il ne joue que GB et side seulement WLL et Proge vs viridian/Regal
Et je me prends Marit Lage T2. Mais je pars en mode glimpse T2, qui sera léthal.
J'ai été plutôt bien chanceux sur cette ronde, tout sort dans l'ordre. Pierre me dit tester souvent vs elfball et me dit que c'est souvent trop lent contre lui.

Ronde 3, Jérôme et BUG delver:
A 2/0 et contre BUG, je me sens super confiant.

je prends delver + nemesis qui iront au bout grace aux contres et à la discard. Particulièrement la discard de Behemoth, alors que Jérôme n'avait plus de cartes en main (il vient de pitcher BS sur FOW contre un glimpse au tour d'avant alors qu'il avait deux cartes en main) et que j'avais de quoi le hardcaster au tour suivant. Mais topdeck seize...

Je gagne à l'aggro, notamment grace à decay sur Delver, Nettle et surtout un scavenging ooze.

Je perds sur double delver again, sur une partie plutôt serrée (il finit à 4) où je ne trouve pas mes decay, ni ma combo (et me fait redefausser behemoth).
Première défaite vs BUG sur 15 matchs, mon jeu n'est vraiment pas sorti, avec des mains de bases plutôt bonnes mais rien à piocher à part tous mes fetchs..

Ronde 4, Erwann, elfball
Voire ci-dessus, ça résume très bien.
Malgré les Mull, je ne trouve pas de glimpse ni discard (j'en entre 5), mais Teeg dans la main en G2/3 alors que je le préfère comme option GSZ dans la bibal. La 1 par contre j'ai de la chance car je n'avais pas grand chose et il avait symbiot/visio qui tournait, je pioche cradle pour faire GSZ sur Behemoth.

Petit détail par rapport à ton report vs D&T:
Tu ne peux pas te decker avec glimpse: tu peux toujours multiplier les gsz à x même sur une biblio vide pour avoir au moins 4 cartes en bibal.



Ronde 5 Vincent avec bURg,
La dernière fois il jouait BUG, mais il me dit qu'il a changé.

il commence et très fort avec volca, grim. Mince. Je vais jouer très aggro avec notamment DRS, double nettle, symbiot et heritage. Il choisit de bolter heritage plutôt que DRS, et du coup je vais l'empêcher longtemps d'arriver à deux cartes au grave (contrairement à ce que j'ai pu écrire sur le topic Burn   ) tout en tapant avec les Nettles. De son côté il joue young pyromancer et des tokens, et me descends à 4. Je l'aurais quand même au final.

Je me dis que j'ai battu UR delver en mode aggro.
Vs UR delver, je side un peu comme vs RUG, en retirant 2 NO (j'en garde 2), 1 Heritage, Regal et Viridian pour 4 decay et Wilt Leaf Liege.

Il commence avec mer sout, Delver... ah Et oui il joue bURg en fait... Tour 2 cabal sur NO (ne touche pas, mais je n'en joue plus que 2), DRS et sacrifice DRS pour me retirer glimpse. Je decay le delver et recommence à taper avec double Nettle FTW (je jouerais un autre decay sur je ne sais plus quelle menace). Il joue des Marsh casualties mais ça ne fait rien vs DRS/Nettle

Et au final 3-2.
Résultat plutôt décevant mais bon, je repart quand même avec un aven Mindcensor foil et j'ai passé une excellente journée, et beaucoup joué, vu des adversaires sympas.
